Passwords in ParcVu Desktop can be set to expire as a security measure. The result is that Users are forced to change their password at regular intervals, reducing the risk of unauthorised use of the account

Setting the Password Lifetime in ParcVu Desktop

To access this area of the system the User will need either need the Supervisor Account or to have the Superuser and Allow System Maintenance Menu user permissions

Go to System Maintenance Sub Menu > Client Configuration

Under the Security section, you’ll see the field ‘Password Lifetime in Days’ - you can edit this value to match your own IT security policy

Setting the Password Expiry Warning in ParcVu Desktop

To access this area of the system the user will need either need the Supervisor Account or to have the Superuser and Allow System Maintenance Menu user permissions

Go to System Maintenance Sub Menu > Client Configuration

Under the Security section, you’ll see the field ‘Password Reset Warning Display Time in Days’

Each time the user logs in from X days before their password expires, they will see a warning message prompting them to change their password

Users will see this message even if they use an alternative login method, like Windows Authentication. In these instances, the User or the Internal ParcVu Administrator will still need to update the password in the profile, to prevent the User being deactivated
